RelateCare Celebrate Patient Access Week!
Patient Access Week is a special time of year for RelateCare!
Throughout the year we are spread far and wide across countries and continents, engaged in a range of complex tasks. RelateCare, as you may know, has many strings to its bow: we are contact center experts, scheduling assistants, patient service representatives, revenue cycle consultants, nurses, trainers, technology experts, to name a few.
But within all of these various roles, products and services, there is one thing that unites everything we do. There is one issue, one challenge, one opportunity that joins together all the various aspects of RelateCare, and that is Patient Access.
Right from the conception and birth of RelateCare we have been focused, in one way or another, on this issue: finding ways to help patients get access to the care they need, when they need with the right provider.
So what is Patient Access and why does it matter?
For us, Patient Access is the key to the future of healthcare. Yes, there are countless other moving parts and essential challenges to face, but unless patients can access the care they need, when they need it, with the right provider, in the right place, then all the advances in technology and care will count for little.
But getting Patient Access right is not a simple or straightforward task.
It involves People. This means training and guiding appointment scheduling representatives and clincal staff to deal with patients in a friendly, professional and efficient manner.
It involves Processes. Matching patient need with physician and provider supply is an incredibly complex challenge. RelateCare are experts when it comes to streamlining this process so that patients get the appointments they need, and providers fill the gaps they have.
It involves Technology. Allowing patients to connect with their providers on the phone, webchat, text message, online, social media, while supporting schedulers through EHR optimization to schedule the right appointment is essential. Not to mention pre-authorization and registration.
Patient Access is complex and challenging. But it is the first step in providing the kind of care that patients expect.
And so last Patient Access Week serves as a timely reminder of our mission. While we do many things, optimizing patient access is and will always be our identity, our character and what defines us.
So we are proud to have recognized healthcare access professionals for their commitment and continued accomplishments.
Established in 1982, Patient Access Week is a celebration of the people in Patient Access profession. The date marks the anniversary of the founding of the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM), the only national professional organization dedicated to promoting excellence within the field. Each year, the celebrations span the entire week surrounding the anniversary, April 5.
